Be prepared
After 2007, all accredited entry-level occupational therapy programs in the United States must be at the graduate-level. As academic programs convert to an entry-level master’s degree and more graduates enter the work force with master’s degrees, Boston University is committed to meeting the needs of practicing clinicians. The mission of the post-professional MS program is to increase practitioners’ ability to use current theory, research, and knowledge of health and social service systems to guide clinical practice, and thus to prepare them to develop innovative and effective intervention and service programs.

Fully accredited by the CAPTE
Boston University Sargent College's Occupational Therapy Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). In 2001, ACOTE awarded Boston University Sargent College full reaccreditation for 10 years through academic year 2011/2012. The New England Association of Schools and Colleges accredits Boston University, which is the highest and most widely-recognized form of accreditation for degree-granting programs. State agencies and reputable academic institutions only recognize degrees from regionally accredited institutions when considering someone for employment, a teaching position, or further academic study (including transfer of course credit).
